Join the squad
The University of Maryland cheerleading squad is a unique program in that it is divided into three separate teams: Golden Girls, Diamondbacks and Lady T’s. This allows the coaching staff to select individuals at varying levels of gymnastics and stunting ability and group them together to provide them with the best opportunity to develop their skills.
Basic Team Requirements (applies to all interested individuals):
- Must be a current or prospective University of Maryland Student enrolled full-time (12 hours).
- Freshman Connection students are eligible.
- A minimum of 2 years cheerleading experience at the high school or all-star level.
- Tumbling experience required.
- Must have a completed physical within 6 months of the audition date.
- Sickle Cell test results required prior to audition date.

It is recommended that participants park in lot 4b (please abide by signage). Enter the Xfinity Center on the ground level and the gym is on the left.
9:30 am – 2:30 pm (there will be an hour break at noon)
9:30 am – 9:45 am: Check-in
9:45 am – 10:00 am: Group Warm-up/stretch
10:00 am – 10:45 am: Learn material – fight song
10:45 am – 11:30 am: Stunt instruction / group formation
11:30 am – 12:00 pm: Open Tumbling/Interviews
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: Break for lunch
1:00 – 1:30; Quick warm-up and open gym
1:30 – 2:30: Official Auditions (will be judged by a panel)
*Final selections will be posted on our website by 5:00 pm on Sunday, September 10th.
Participants should look their best! Women participants should wear a sports bra and fitted spandex shorts. Hair should be styled one of two ways: hair all the way down or half-up, half-down. Please wear performance style make-up; natural colors applied heavily with red lipstick. All tattoos should be fully covered, jewelry completely removed, and nails should be short. Men participants should be well groomed and wear a t-shirt and athletic shorts.

**Please note that meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee that you will make the University of Maryland cheerleading team. There are several factors that weigh into team selection and final determination of the team will be made at the sole the discretion of the Head Coach.
