The Maryland Cheerleading Camp is one of the only camps of its kind offered to teams, partner stunt groups, and individual participants. Three days of instruction will focus on partner stunting, tumbling technique, drills, and new skill introduction. Athletes of all experience levels and ages are encouraged to attend to enhance their current abilities. Participants can choose to stay on the University of Maryland campus or commute to camp each morning.

The University of Maryland cheerleading program has a rich history in traditional sideline cheerleading, as well as a strong history in competitive cheerleading, bringing home multiple nationals titles and rankings.

CAMP GROUPS
Campers are placed in groups according to their age, skill, and experience level. Participants will be placed according to information entered on their registration form. Roommate and camp group requests will be honored to the best of our ability. Participants will rotate around to learning stations with their camp groups.
CAMP CLASSES
Camp participants will receive first class instruction in partner stunting, tumbling, dances, jumps, flexibility, and conditioning. On the final day each group will perform a team routine for the parents and the rest of the camp. The entire camp will warm up, stretch, eat, and play fun games during breaks together.
PARTNER STUNTING
Bring your partner stunt group and get the most out of stunt instruction during camp*! Learn creative stunt entries, proper stunt and dismount technique, a variety dismounts and transitional stunts! Variations available for all skill levels. Participants that do not attend camp with a partner stunt group will be matched with other individual attendees for partner stunt classes.

*Athletes are only guaranteed to train in their preferred stunt position IF they attend camp with a prearranged stunt group. For example, for safety reasons, campers that are typically flyers are not guaranteed to fly during camp if other participants their age and skill level are not of adequate size to base that particular camper (in this case, that particular camper would be taught how to base). The only way to guarantee that a flyer will work on “flying” skills at camp would be to register with 2 bases and a 1 back spot, as this group will stay together during stunt classes throughout camp.

TUMBLING
The variety of training apparatus available at the University of Maryland will help participants, novice to elite, enhance their tumbling and stunting ability. Campers will progress through drill stations to train proper technique and safety. Spring floors and tumbling strips will be utilized during most tumbling sessions. Tumbling instructors will coach participants toward new combination passes and guide advancement of new tricks with hands on spotting. Our goal is to strengthen the foundation of tumbling skills before introducing difficulty. Participants will advance skills only after showing mastery of the foundation elements.
