Fall Auditions will be held On September 15th, 2019 at xfinity center, College Park, MD!
The University of Maryland cheerleading program is a game and competition squad that supports football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and other Olympic sports. Our season runs from late July through end of April. The structure of the team varies year to year and is determined by the head coach following auditions.
Selected members are required to participate in all games, competitions, fundraisers, appearances, etc. as applicable. Please note that our program is an intensive, extremely physical and rigorous program designed for highly skilled and dedicated athletes in the sport. We advise all interested individuals to consider the basic requirements below and the provided team details prior to considering auditioning for the team.
*If you are currently a level 5 flyer, have a two handsprings to full, a running pass through to full or are a level 9 or 10 gymnast please email us directly at email@example.com.
Basic Team Requirements (applies to all interested individuals):
Must be a current or prospective University of Maryland Student enrolled full-time (12 hours). Graduating seniors or graduate students need 1 class in order to be eligible.
Freshman Connection students are eligible.
A minimum of 4 years cheer and/or gymnastics/acrobatics experience at the high school, all-star level or above.
Tumbling experience required. (please note that possessing the minimum required skills will not ensure that you are selected for the team, athletes should present their highest level skills when auditioning. These are simply detailing the minimum level skill required to audition)
Minimum standing toe-touch back tuck.
Minimum running tumbling pass through to tuck. (layouts and fulls are preferred and prioritized during team selection)
Must have a completed physical within 6 months of the audition date. (see below)
Sickle Cell test results required prior to audition date. (see below)

If you haven't had a physical within the last 6 months, contact your primary care physician and schedule a physical appointment. Download, print and take the Medical Packet below with you to your appointment. Once completed, scan and email the packet along with you sickle cell test results to firstname.lastname@example.org. Include your name and the words Audition Medical Packet in the subject line of the email. Must be submitted a week before the audition date, however, I encourage you to submit it sooner if you have it available! THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! OUR ATHLETIC TRAINING TEAM WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO AUDITION WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION!!!
Show up to auditions (date TBD) and bring your $25.00 NON-REFUNDABLE audition fee with you (cash or Paypal accepted)

When: September 15, 2019
Where: Xfintiy Center Pavilion Gym, 8500 Paint Branch Drive, College Park, MD 20742.
Attire: Women should wear a sports bra and shorts. Hair should be styled appropriately for a collegiate game day (either all the way out or half up half down) with natural make up applied heavily and a shade of red lipstick that best suits them. Men should wear a t-shirt and athletic shorts and be well groomed in a style that suits them best.
Fees: There is a $25.00 Audition fee due at the time of check in.
Sample AUDITION SCHEDULE
9:45 AM to 10:00 AM– Check in (please have your audition fee with you (cash, PayPal or credit accepted))
10:10 AM to 10:30 AM – UMD Fight Song instruction
10:30 AM to 10:35 AM – Audition groups will be assembled
10:40 AM – 10:50 AM – Work in groups to develop audition cheer
10:55 AM – 11:30 AM – Stunt instruction
11:30 AM – 12:15 PM – Open tumbling & Practice & Interviews
12:30 PM to 1:00 PM – Auditions (Judged by a panel)
